Nicaraguan Cigars
Nicaragua also had its fare share of cigar making families, who settled in this small Central American country after the Cuban Revolution.
Nicaragua always had a history of production of cigarette tobacco but had not yet cultivated a cigar crop. The Somoza dictatorship took advantage of Castro's revolution and funded the new cigar industry, utilizing the Cuban experts and the Cuban tobacco seeds they bought with them. The story of Nicaraguan cigars is a dramatic one, made so by various changes in control of the country followed in 1998 by hurricane Mitch.
